It is mid Summer: we go on holiday, travel, visit events since we would like to enjoy good weather. Villány is an ideal venue in all seasons, but now we give suggestions especially for the Summer: what it is worth to do at us and in the neighbourhood.
Events in the neighbourhood
On 20-22th July the XXV.th Bathing Festival of Harkány takes place where concerts and programs await everybody. Between 3rd August and 2nd September we can launch the harvest season on the Harvest Festival of Harkány. On 24-28th July in the Siklós Castle Theatre Evenings artistic plays will be performed in the yard and park of Siklós Castle. On 10-12th of August on the Castle Festival of Siklós wind instrument concerts and farmer’s market can be visited. Finally the name of the Harvest Chicken Paprika Festival of Siklós (25th August) speaks for itself.
One of our most popular festivals is the 11th Ördögkatlan (Devil’s Valley) Festival (31st July – 4th August) on 5 venues, with several programs – it is simply unmissable.
If it’s Friday – it is Villány! Yes, after Friday work let’s head to Villány, since great concerts and wines await everybody. On 3rd August ROAD and the Diamant Kapelle, on 17th August Intim Torna Illegál and Schütz band play. Beside of these children and culinary programs can be attended on.
Where to go for a hike?
For those who likes to bike or hike, we recommend the Castle of Siklós or the Thermal Spa with full heart. It is possible to ride on bike to both venues, meanwhile watching beautiful vineyards. It is also an ideal venue for children since the castle is a great experience for everybody and the kids loves the slide park. The cellars are always open in the weekends in Palkonya. You can walk and taste wines in the recently renewed, atmospheric cellar row. You should travel a little longer to study one of the most famous events of the Hungarian history in the Memorial Place of Mohács. And in the Busó-garden complex the guests can get acquainted with this many century old carnival tradition.
Active relaxation in Crocus
Visiting the cellar and tasting the wines are great experiences – and at Gere everybody can find that program which she or he interested in mostly: either be a beginner wine consumer, or an expert. During the visit of Gere Winery – beside of Csillagvölgy, Explorer and Exclusive tastings – we show how complex can be the weekdays of a winery working in such quality. The guests taste and meanwhile we introduce the wine region, the history of Gere family, the processing factory and naturally the wines.
