With great success, in wonderful weather the I. GERE Jazz Festival – which is supposed to be a tradition in the future – was taken place in Villány.

According to the organizer and idea-owner Zoltán Pauli this 2 days long event was the really special celebration of wine, gastronomy and jazz. In the festival organized in magical wine region environment, truly in the embrace of vineyards 2 wine regions, 2 wineries, 2 restaurants and 2 concert series gave rendezvous for the fans of gourmet cuisine and jazz music.

For the invitation of Gere Winery the Pannonhalmi Abbey Winery – which is known and acknowledged for its excellent white wines internationally too – was our guest in Villány for 2 days. As the part of the exemplary friendly cooperation during the sunset program in both evenings the 2 wineries gave salon with sparkling wines.

After the salon the guests took part in a gourmet dinner accompanied by  acoustic jazz music and wines from Pannonhalma and Villány. The chefs of also Gere-concerned Mandula Restaurant and Wine Bar sent the guests on a really special taste-travel. This restaurant is mentioned as one of the flag holders of top-gastronomy in Baranya county.

On Saturday Gábor Gyurik – the chef of VIATOR Restaurant – came to Villány from Pannonhalma and presented 2 VIATOR-courses too as the part of the culinary adventure during the evening degustation.

The musical program consisted the determinative performers of Hungarian jazz on stage in Villány. BA-LAN-cE (the band of Gyula Babos, Zoltán Lantos and Emilio) opened the festival with a stormy concert which presented a cross-continent musical experience, which was followed by Hot Jazz Band. On Saturday Vukán Trio, then Eszter Váczi and the Quartet shone on the podium then finally Sunny Dance Band and Kati Wolf invited the audience to dance and closed the series.

This was the first Hungarian jazz event on which WINE, JAZZ and GASTRONOMY met each other in such a high quality – no doubt: world standard and in special environment and magical atmosphere.

See you next year on II. GERE Jazz Festival!
